Unlike the Kerala pages on this site, this one isn't about remote work — Bengaluru is where I actually live now, and it's the one location where meeting in person is a real, standing option rather than something we'd have to specially arrange. I moved here for the work; India's startup and tech density means client conversations, in-person scoping sessions, and the occasional "come look at this in the office" request are all things I can say yes to without booking a flight.

That said, most of the actual development work still happens the same way it would for a remote client — focused hours, regular async updates, a proper handover. The in-person option is a convenience for the parts that genuinely benefit from being in a room together: the first scoping conversation, a design review, or untangling a messy requirement that's easier to whiteboard than to type out over chat.

What Bengaluru clients need that's different

Bengaluru's client mix skews differently from what I see in Kerala, and it's worth being specific about that rather than pretending every city wants the same thing.

Startups needing scoped work, not full builds. A lot of Bengaluru inquiries aren't "build my whole app" — they're "we need this one module," "build an MVP fast so we can pitch it," or "our Flutter dev left, can you pick up the codebase." I take on work at that grain too: auditing an existing app before extending it, building a specific feature under a tight deadline, or owning one piece of a larger product while an in-house team handles the rest.

Teams that already have opinions about the stack. Bengaluru clients are more likely to come in with a specific architecture preference — Firebase vs a custom Node backend, a particular state management pattern — because there's often already an in-house developer or a technical co-founder involved. Speed pressure. Startup timelines are startup timelines. When a Bengaluru client needs something demoable for an investor meeting or a launch date that isn't moving, that's a different kind of project than a small business building at its own pace — and I use AI-assisted development (Claude Code, Cursor, MCP workflows) specifically to compress the mechanical parts of that timeline without cutting corners on review.

Kerala will always be home, and the Kozhikode roots don't go away just because the address changed. But there's a real, practical value in being physically present in India's startup capital: faster feedback loops, easier access to the kind of technical peer conversations that sharpen judgment, and the ability to say yes to a same-week in-person meeting without checking flight schedules first.
